The town attorney for both Newburgh and Elberfeld was arrested in Vanderburgh County over Labor Day weekend.
Chris Wischer was arrested in the early morning hours of Saturday, Sept. 1, for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a BAC of .15 or more. Wischer serves as the town attorney for both Newburgh and Elberfeld.
Elberfeld Town Council President Marty Walters said there won't be any action taken by the town as a result. He said it's an unfortunate situation, but he still respects Wischer and doesn't think the incident will affect his role with the town.
"The way I feel, whoever is free from ever making a mistake or has no faults can throw the first stone," he said. "I still have the utmost respect for Chris."
However, the Town of Newburgh is not making any comment at this time.
