Warrick County Red Cross Blood Donation Opportunities

Upcoming Warrick County Red Cross blood donation opportunities: Newburgh United Methodist Church, 4178 Highway 261, Newburgh, Dec. 6: from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.; American Legion Post 351, 350 N. 4th St. Elberfeld, Dec. 13: from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. To donate blood, a blood donor card or driver's license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

St. Clement Catholic Parish Cookie Walk 'The Aromas of Christmas'

St. Clement Catholic Parish Cookie Walk "The Aromas of Christmas" will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. in the St. Clement Catholic Church Social Hall. More than 100 varieties of Christmas Cookies, Candies, Jams, Cakes, Pies, and Festive Breads will be available to purchase. Admission is free and Christmas Cake and Wassail will be served. Christmas Chance Auction: $.50 or 3/$1. Christmas Raffle: $1 or 6/$5. Items include: Christmas quilt, afghan, $100 Walmart script card, fleece throw, and a television. Sponsored by The Ladies' Club. The church is located at 422 E. Sycamore St., Boonville.

Santa at the Firehouse

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting Chandler Volunteer Fire Station on Saturday, Dec. 9th from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. They will arrive at 5:30 p.m. on a fire engine. Cookies and drinks will be provided. Event is open to the public.

Daddy Daughter Dance

The Boonville High School Trailblazers dance team is hosting our 4th annual Daddy Daughter dance on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. This year the theme will be "Winter Masquerade Ball." As in past years, any and all girls are welcome, and are encouraged to bring along a father figure (dad, step dad, grandpa, uncle, brother etc). We will have refreshments, music, the option of professional photos by Lisa Polk Photography & Design, and LOTS of fun! Tickets will be available for presale (order form will be sent out to Warrick county schools) and will also be for sale at the door. We expect a large turn out just like in past years, so getting your tickets ahead of time will save time at the entrance so there's more time to dance!

Annual Tinsel Town in Tennyson Parade

The annual Tinsel Town in Tennyson Parade will start at 1 p.m. on Dec. 10. Lineup will begin at 12 p.m. at the American Legion. Following the parade, Santa will be at Tennyson School. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy cookies and Kool-Aid with Santa. Bring your camera to get pictures with Santa Claus. Trophies will be awarded to Best Overall float and 1st and 2nd Place floats.

Christmas Dinner with WCDWC

Christmas Dinner served by the Warrick County Democratic Women's Club will be on Monday, Dec. 11, at the Boonville Warrick Library. Cost is $10 per person and will include ham, potatoes, green beans, mac 'n' cheese, all the "fixin's," and also a variety of desserts. To make reservations call Shirley at 812-629-0404.

Folsomville School Group

The Folsomville School Group will meet at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12, at Golden Corral on Cross Pointe Boulevard in Evansville. There will be no gift exchange; however, there will be door prizes.

Annual Children's Christmas Party

Kapperman Post #44 will have their annual Children's Christmas Party on Saturday, Dec. 16, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at 711 State Street, Newburgh. Open to the public! Come out for hot cocoa, snacks and games and visit with Santa! Parents will need to bring a $10 gift wrapped and addressed to their child from Santa to be placed under the tree for Santa to give to the child.

Homemade Chicken & Dumplings

St. John's United Church of Christ in Boonville will be selling Homemade Chicken & Dumplings by the quart on Saturday, Dec. 16. Please pre-order quarts by calling the church office at 812-897-1441 before Dec. 10. Dumplings will be sold for $8 a quart. Only pre-orders will be sold. Pick up will be from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Dec. 16 at the church located on the corner of 6th and Sycamore Streets in Boonville. Proceeds will go toward the HVAC repairs to the church.

Amateur Radio Classes

The Ohio Valley Amateur Radio Club is in the process of forming classes for Technician, General, and Amateur Extra level testing. An ARRL Accredited Instructor will teach the class. The only cost will be for the purchase of study materials. The classes will begin on Jan. 9 and continue until Feb. 27. The classes will meet each Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. There are limited spots available. Anyone wanting additional information about how to attend the classes should contact Mike Koester at ka9vko@ohiovalleyarc.org. These classes will be an opportunity to begin learning or to advance in the world of amateur radio.
