Top stories of 2016: Beautifying Boonville

It was a season of change on the Boonville Square.

Last year, it was the Harold Gunn Pavilion. In 2016, it was the addition of Johnson Park.

Facilitated by Boonville NOW, the park was officially dedicated in October. The project was made possible by a USDA grant and a generous donation from the Johnson Foundation.

The park features a wrought iron bandstand, benches and fence work by Parker Ironworks in Boonville. It was the culmination of a host of volunteer efforts, all designed to make the city even more beautiful.

In its infancy, the park has already hosted several events, including Christmas in Boon Village and a tree lighting ceremony. It also made for some beautiful photos for the Boonville High School Christmas dance.
