Eloise (Pate) Gemlich Klingensmith, 98, of Evansville, formally of Boonville, passed away at Oakwood Health and Rehab Center on July 11, 2018, with her family at her bedside. Eloise was the daughter of the Frank C. and Bertha Bippus Pate and the late Stella Pate (step-mother).
Eloise graduated from Boonville High School in 1937. She attended Lockyear Business College and worked most of her years as a secretary for J H Service. She enjoyed modeling, shopping, and hosting parties. She loved decorating.
She is preceded in death by her first husband of 42 years, Chris Gemlich in 1979; her second husband of 24 years, Nelson Klingensmith in 2008; step-daughter, Linda Baldwin; sister, Ethelyn Warner; brothers, Carl Pate and Billie Frank Pate; step-sister, Virginia Addington; and parents, Frank, Stella and Bertha Pate.
Surviving are her nieces, Cheryl Hauser (Steve) of Tell City; Linda Martin (Mike) of Sarasota, Fla.; Patricia McMichael (Jerry) of Newburgh; and Karen Warner of St. Petersburg, Fla.; nephews, William McCool of Monticello, Ind.; and Donnie McCool of Chandler; step-daughter, Brenda Hachmeister (Dave) of Boonville; step-grandchildren, Cassie Lashley (John); Cara Hachmeister; Candice Carroll (Andy); Brandon and Brady Bieber; step-great-grandchildren, Corben and Colten Lashley; Brooks and Briley Carroll; Jacob, Easton and Reagon Bieber; one step-great-great-grandchild, Reed Bieber.
Eloise was a life member and active member of the Captain Henry Evansville chapter of Eastern Star. Past President of the DAR Daughters of American Revolution. She belonged to the Boonville American Legion Auxiliary, Boonville Business and Professional Women’s Club, Rebecca Lodge, Country Club and Elks Club.
Funeral Service 11 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Bradley’s Colonial Chapel, 1005 E. Main St. Boonville. Visitation from 9 a.m. to service time. Interment Maple Grove Cemetery, Boonville.
