Gilbert Herman Leistner, 91, of Boonville, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville.

Gilbert was born on July 16, 1927 in Spencer County, Ind., to the late Authur and Helen (Lincoln) Leistner.

Gilbert served proudly in the United States Army during World War II and was a life time member of the Boonville American Legion Post #200. Gilbert retired from ALCOA after more than 30 years of service. He loved traveling to Arizona.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother and two sisters.

Gilbert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judith A. Leistner of Boonville; children, Cindy Curtis and her husband, Tony of Tennyson; Rickey Leistner of Yuma, Ariz.; grandchildren, Tony, Christina, Richey, Amy; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; Glenn and several other nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Koehler Funeral Home in Boonville with Pastor Robert D. Shofner officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Boonville with the Warrick County Veterans Memorial Services to conduct military honors.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ Youth Group.
