Larry Kent Barr, 71, of Boonville, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Dec. 28, 2018.
Larry was born July 18, 1947 at his family home in DeGonia Springs, Ind., to Louis and Magdalene (Gentry) Barr. He was raised on the family farm with his brothers, Bryan and Paul, and sister, Jana. In high school, he met Sherry Broshears, the love of his life. They would have been married 53 years on Jan. 8. Larry and Sherry continued the family farming tradition and raised four children. Larry was very involved in the community, serving as a Warrick County Councilman for eight years, and a Warrick County Commissioner for eight years. He spent many hours with his grandsons, usually telling them big stories. He was raised in Baker Chapel United Methodist Church. Just last year, he joined Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Larry loved people, especially loved talking to people, and had a big heart.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Magdalene; his brother, Bryan; his in-laws, Charles and LaVaughn Broshears; his brother-in-law, Steve Broshears; and his nephew, Charlie Broshears.
Larry is survived by his wife, Sherry (Broshears) Barr; children, Robin (Gerald) Greenlee and Lesa Whitlow of Boonville; Jessica (Curt) Worster of Kaneohe, Hawaii; and Christopher (Kim) Barr of Show-Low, Ariz.; grandchildren Nicholas and Dillon Greenlee of Boonville; Reid and Lyndon Whitlow of Evansville; Jay Worster (Kristen) of Maine; Christopher Worster (Abbey) of Scott Air Force Base, St. Louis; Corinth Worster of Maui, Hawaii; and Garrett Barr of Show-Low, Ariz.; sister, Jana (Jeff) Daub of Boonville; brother, Paul (Debbie) Barr of Boonville; sister-in-law, Angie Barr of Evansville; many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019 at the Koehler Funeral Home in Boonville with Father Bernie Etienne and Pastor Scott Westerman officiating. Burial will be at Folsomville Cemetery in Folsomville.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019 at the funeral home and again from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Baker Chapel UMC or Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
