Joe Ben Abanatha, 86, of Chandler, passed away on Monday, Jan. 28, 2019 at Bell Oaks Place where he also received care from Heritage Hospice.

Joe was born in Lovelaceville, Ky., on June 1, 1932 to the late Roy Flack and Odell (Buchanon) Abanatha.

Joe graduated from Blandville High School. He served for several years in the United States Marine Corps. Joe worked as a carpenter and retired from ALCOA after several years of service. He enjoyed gardening, canning, and believed in the Baptist faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Marianna, Malcom, and Martha.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Sandy Rohrscheib and her husband, Charles of Boonville; grandchildren, Josh Rohrscheib; Justin Rohrscheib (Jennifer); Stephanie Byers (Karl); great-grandchildren, Madasyn Rohrscheib, Kaylee Rohrscheib, Carly Rohrscheib, Shane Eaton, Brysyn Eaton, Karl Byers Jr, Cali Grace Byers (Carl); siblings, Betty Abanatha, Royce Lee Abanatha, Ronnie Abanatha; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb., 1, 2019 at Koehler Funeral Home, Perigo Chapel in Chandler, with Pastor Mark Short officiating. The Warrick County Veterans Memorial Services will conduct military honors.

Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1, 2019 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Boonville American Legion Post #200.
