Helen Louise Barclay, 92, of Evansville, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.

Helen was born in Dickeyville, Ind., on March 28, 1925 to the late Jesse and Gertrude (Reaser) Sims.

She graduated from Folsomville High School in 1942. Helen was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Terrace Park and Main Street General Baptist (5-Point) Church. Helen and her husband of 75 years, Galen loved to travel and see new places.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Galen “Tom” Barclay; brothers, Murel Sims, Lewis Sims, John Sims, Lloyd Sims; sister, Ruby Barnett.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Judy McGavic and her husband, Ron of Newburgh; grandson, Dr. Michael D. McGavic and his wife Trisha of Huntington Beach, Cali.; several nieces and nephews.

Services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017 at Koehler Funeral Home in Boonville with Pastor Carl Jones officiating. Burial was at Maple Grove Cemetery in Boonville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Main Street General Baptist (5-Point) Church in Boonville.
