Frances Ann Haas, 82, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2018.

Fran was born in Warrick County, Ind., the only child of Reba and Abner Haas both of whom predeceased her, as did her partner of nearly 50 years, Clara Lee Miller.

She is survived by cousins, T. Stephen Phillips (Lynn), Michael K. Phillips (Julie), and S. Anthony Long (Rita), their children and grandchildren, and by many friends whom she loved.

She had been resident of Twin Lakes Community since 2005. Fran graduated from DePauw University and came to Cincinnati to teach in the public school system. A singer and pianist herself, Fran taught for many years at the School for Creative and Performing Arts where she was head of the Drama Department. She particularly enjoyed Mime. Fran inspired and contributed importantly to the lives of her students, many of whom went on to successful careers in music and Theatre in the U.S. and abroad. On Teacher Appreciation Day this year, actor Rocky Carroll paid tribute to Fran on national television for helping him develop a love of the Theatre. Fran was a bright light in the Twin Lakes Community. She organized a drama program among the residents who wrote and performed plays for the community under her direction.

She will be missed by her family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. at the Norman Chapel, located inside Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Ave, Cincinnati, Ohio 45232. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the The SCPA FUND for the benefit of the School of Creative and Performing Arts at 108 West Central Parkway Cincinnati, Ohio 45202.
