Castle boys and girls took victories in sectionals scoring titles and the ability to compete in regionals.
The Castle boys first took a win over Central knocking out the Bears in a sectional opener Oct. 2. The Knights went on to face North in the semifinal on Wednesday, Oct. 4 after the Huskies defeated Harrison.
Castle took out the Huskies, 8-1 and won the chance to compete in the sectional championship against Jasper on Oct. 7.
Jasper had previously defeated Reitz in the semifinal, but couldnâ€™t stand up to the Knights. Castle defeated the Wildcats and took the sectional title, 2-1.
The boys will travel to Seymour to take on Perry Meridian in regional competition on Saturday. The winner of that matchup will advance to the regional championship facing either Columbus East or Bloomington South later that evening.
The Castle girls first took on North in the first round of the sectional Oct. 3, knocking out the Huskies 2-0. The Knights went on to defeat Reitz in the sectional semifinals on Oct. 5, 3-1.
Then Castle took on Central in the sectional championship. Central previously knocked out Harrison in the semifinal, 5-2.
The Knights took the victory over the Bears in the end for the sectional title, 4-0.
The Castle girls will travel to Bloomington South to take on Bloomington South in the regional semifinal on Saturday. The winner of that matchup will face either Columbus North or Floyd Central in the regional championship later in the same day.
Both Boonville boys and girls were knocked out in the sectionals. The Boonville boys fell to Memorial in the first round of the sectional, 2-0.
Meanwhile, the girls defeated Mount Vernon in the first round, 3-0, but ultimately fell to Memorial in the semifinal, 9-0.
