The Knights took the sectional championship title after defeating Floyd Central, 42-28 on the road and advanced their season record to 8-3. The Knights were strong throughout the season, but couldn’t have prepared for the vengeance waiting ahead. Castle faced Bloomington South in a regional rematch after defeating the Panthers and ending their season in the exact same matchup in 2015.

The Panthers took an early lead and kept the Knights running for the rest of the game. The Panthers scored 20 points in the first quarter but the Knights couldn’t reach the end zone until the second quarter. The teams went into halftime with a score of 23-10. The Knights fought, but trailed throughout finally bringing the final score to 44-23.

In the end, the Panthers fell in the semistate championship against Columbus East, 35-15, before Columbus East ultimately fell to Westfield at Lucas Oil for the State Championship.
