Boonville's chances to capture their first conference championship since 1991 just got better as they defeated conference foe and the big dog in the conference the Jasper Wildcats by the score of 28-14.

This win comes just one week after the Pioneers defeated last year's conference winner the Vincennes Lincoln Alices.

"We played really well defensively, giving up one throw down the field in the first quarter," Pioneers coach Darin Ward said. We swarmed the ball and was the more physical team."

Jasper (1-2) would strike first in the game on a touchdown by Eliot Hopf. It didn't take long for Boonville to answer. Actually, it only took them 20 seconds to answer as Luke Conner would answer with a touchdown of his own.

Conner would once again come through as he rushed for 65 yards

for the score as the third quarter started. Conner would finish the game with 209 yards rushing and three touchdowns.

"Luke was able to take advantage of his speed on his two long runs for TDs," Ward said.

Reed Overton would also score for the Pioneers to put the finishing touches on the win.

"All in all, a total team effort and a great win for our program," Ward said.
