When the Tecumseh Lady Braves took the lead going into half against their opponent the Logootee Lady Lions on Dec. 21, it looked like they had the momentum going into the second half.
That halftime lead, however, would be their only lead of the game as they were defeated by the score of 48-38.
The game was close for the first three quarters before Logootee was able to pull away from Tecumseh in the final quarter.
"We fought back from being in foul trouble which has been normal for us (throughout the season)," Logootee coach Bryan Smith said.
Logootee built an early lead at 10-3 after a basket by Chelsie Sutton.
Tecumseh went on a 7-0 run to tie the game at 10.
During the first half, the Lady Lions were only able to get as much of a five point lead as Tecumseh was able to stay in the ball game mostly due to turnovers by the Lady Lions. Tecumseh's Chloe Holder scored the final four points of the first half as Tecumseh led 20-19 at intermission.
The Lady Lions opened the second half on a 6-0 and were pulling away toward the end of the third quarter until the Lady Braves made a mini comeback.
With Logootee leading 38-31, Andrea Stepro hit a three pointer to cut Logootee's lead to four. The Lady Lions Sydney Davis then gets fouled while attempting a three pointer but misses all three free throws. Logootee only had a four point lead going into the fourth quarter.
Davis made up for the missed free throws in the fourth quarter and she scored the first basket of the quarter while getting fouled.
She was able to get the three point play the old fashion way as she converted the free throw. With the Lady Lions up by seven, they started spreading the court and slowing the game down as they were eventually able to run the clock down enough and get the win.
Logootee was led by Tyanna Graber who finished with a game high 20 points including four three pointers.
"Our schedule hasn't been too difficult thus far. We wanted to prove to ourselves we can beat a good team," Graber said.
Tecumseh falls to 6-6 and was led by Chloe Holder with 12 points.
