The Boonville boys and girls track teams kicked off the season with strong starts at the season opener hosted at Central.
The girls took first against Central and Bosse while the boys took third. The Pioneers boasted several first place finishes in the meet with senior Alyssia Faulkner, junior Ramey Wilder and sophomore Devin Mockobee leading the pack.
On the track for the girls, Faulkner took first in the 800 meter run while Wilder took first in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles. Also, in relay action, the 3200 meter relay team of senior Abby Enright, junior Kiley Hart and freshman Bracie Phillips took first along with the 1600 meter relay team of Faulkner, Wilder, Enright and junior Whitney Heidorn.
Sophomore Aimee Wilson also took first in pole vaults adding a top spot to the field events.
On the track for the boys, Mockobee took first in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles while senior Ross Farmer took second in the 400 meter dash. In field events, junior Elias Foor took first in discuss, junior Reed Overton took first in shot put and junior Cole Persinger took first in pole vault.
The Pioneers are back in action today (Thursday) on the road at Mount Vernon at 5:15 p.m. and will take a break over Spring Break before taking on Washington at home on Tuesday, April 2, at 5 p.m.
