Warrick runners advance to regionals

Warrick County cross country teams are sending runners to regionals.

The Castle boys and girls will be advancing to regionals as a team while Boonville and Tecumseh send runners individually after competing in sectionals. Castle and Boonville took on opponents at Angel Mounds in a sectional hosted by Mater Dei while Tecumseh took on opponents in a sectional hosted by South Knox.

Castle boys took second place as a team with 73 points at Angel Mounds while Boonville boys took sixth with 140 points.

Tyler Spurling led the Knights, coming in ninth overall with a time of 17:56.35, with teammate Owen Fehr not far behind in eleventh place overall with a time of 18:10.09. Also for Castle, Dominic Pitts took 16th, Cooper White came in 19th, Kaden Monroe took 23rd, Colton Worstell came in 28th and Trevor Monroe came in 36th.

Lane Pollock led the Pioneers, taking sixth place overall and qualifying in the first spot individually with a time of 17:38.67. Owen Wilkins followed with 27th place overall while taking the fifth individual spot and Abram Taylor-Schroeder took 32nd overall, filling the eighth individual spot to advance to regionals. Also for Boonville, Efrem Cundiff took 34th, Wyatt Topper came out in 53rd and Jonathan Francis came in 68th.

The Castle girls qualified as a team taking third place with 110 points while Boonville girls took seventh with 150 points.

Kaitlyn Porter led the Knights, coming in 11th overall with a time of 22:04.80. Shelby Luker was not far behind in 14th with Lily Kempf following in 21st. Also for Castle, Addison Vandiver took 32nd, Asumi Nabeya came in 39th, Ella Purdue took 41st and Julia Johns came up with 58th.

Allysia Faulkner led the Pioneers, taking 19th overall and the fourth individual spot to advance with a time of 23:48. Madison Cloutier took 24th and the sixth individual spot followed by Ramey Wilder who took 27th and the seventh individual spot. Also for Boonville, Charlie Welte took 37th and Jaelyn Wall took 54th.

In South Knox, the Tecumseh girls took sixth as a team while the Tecumseh boys took ninth as a team. Payge Lemen led in the girls race for the Braves, taking 17th overall and the second individual spot with a time of 23:29. Summer Moore followed in 20th overall taking the third individual spot to advance.

Gracie Gogel also advanced for Tecumseh, taking 42 overall and the 10th and final individual slot in the girls race. Also for Tecumseh, Emma Spaulding took 45th, Olivia Rudolphi took 46th and Emelia Ashby came out with 48th.

Clay moore led the Braves in the boys race, taking 23rd overall and the fourth individual slot with a time of 19:14. Also for the Braves, Cody Maihle took 48th, George Smilijanich took 55th, Lance Maihle took 56th, Payton Buse took 59th, Shane Stephens took 60th and Jonathan Hill finished in 61st place.

Warrick County runners advancing to regionals will take on opponents at Pike Central on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
