There is a new family practice in Boonville.

Family Nurse Practitioner Michelle Wilson officially cut the ribbon on her new Boonville business, Wilson Family Practice, on Thursday, Sept. 19.

Wilson originally opened her practice earlier this year on Eskew Road in Boonville, but soon realized she needed a bigger location.

"We kind of exploded," she said. "So, I decided I wanted to expand, especially in the fall when everyone gets sick. We've already had thirty new patients this week."

Wilson said although they are a family practice, they are much more than that.

"We are not affiliated with a hospital, so you can go anywhere you'd like," she said. "I like to give people fluids and antibiotics so we can keep referrals down and so people aren't having to go to the hospital and have that 30 minute wait in the ER."

Wilson Family Practice also offers discounted rates for people with no insurance or who have high deductibles.

"Everyone who comes through tells us that it's a different kind of feel," Wilson said. "We want to keep it like a family and that's how we see our patients."

Wilson said she is so appreciative to the community members and organizations who have already helped her and cheered her on, including People's Bank, S&S Machine Shop, The Barn on the Hill, who made the t-shirts, and 2nd Street Sweets, who made the cupcakes for the ribbon cutting.

"The small business owners in Warrick County reached out and helped me in every way possible that I could never have imagined," Wilson said. "I am just so happy to be a part of this community and to be able to bring a compassionate team that is here for our community."

Wilson said she and her employees are focused on patient care.

"Since we are independently own, I'm not worried about filling a quota," she said. "I just care about patient satisfaction and not corporate needs."

With two kids at Loge Elementary School, one at Boonville Middle School and two at Boonville High School, and a Boonville bred husband in Jeremy Wilson, Michelle Wilson is no stranger to the city.

"A lot of my patients know us and see us around at school events, so it puts them at ease," she said. "I'm so proud to be here in Boonville and in Warrick County."
