Hooray Children's Boutique

HNI is taking the summer to support our local merchants! Each week we will be highlighting a different business in Newburgh's Historic District. Check out our Facebook page for more information and special promotions our "merchant of the week" will be having. Enjoy learning more about the heartbeat of our community.

This week's merchant of the week is Hooray. Children's Boutique. Nicole Taylor gives us a snapshot of her many adventures as being one of Historic Newburgh's newest faces.

Q: What is the name and address of your business?

A. Hooray Children's Boutique 103 State St.

Q: Is there a special meaning behind your name?

A. It's fun and maintains the lightheartedness of childhood and helps us celebrate the big moments in life with our kids as well as the little, every day things that make us say, "hooray"! That, and it's the name the business came with when I bought it.

Q: What are the hours of operation of your business?

A. We are open noon-4 on Sundays and 10-5 Monday through Saturday.

Q: Do you have an online presence? If so, what is the web address?

A. We are working on an actual website, but it's proven to be really tricky! We do post daily on Instagram and Facebook, though! You can find us there @hooraynewburgh

Q: How long have you been in business?

A. Hooray has been around since 2008ish. I bought the store from the previous owner in January of this year! It was completely unexpected but it's been totally fun!

Q: Why have you chosen Newburgh to be the home of your business?

A. Hooray has been a staple in downtown Newburgh for years and we are really excited to maintain the presence we have here. We feel like we offer something really special for our customers that they can't just got out and get somewhere else, whether they're shopping for a new baby or a special outfit for an upcoming event or a birthday gift for a special friend.

Q: Do you have a specific niche that you cater to?

A. We cater to babies and kids! When I bought the store we had a lot of people asking for us to start carrying larger girls sizes, so we now go up to a girls size 14, which has gone really well so far. We also have a fun play area in the back of the store that the kiddos love to come and hang out in while the big people do their thing.

Q: What sets you apart from other businesses in the Historic District?

A. I think the thing that really sets Hooray apart is what we offer. Nobody else is specifically a children's boutique and offers the array of clothing, shoes and gifts that we offer. Our team is also great. I work with some amazing women!

Q: Do you have any special promotions this week that you would like to highlight?

A. Yes! We are so excited to be a part of the HNI promotion this summer! We are offering specials all week long!

Monday - swim is 30% off - towels, goggles, suits

Tuesday - Graphic tees are 30% off

Wednesday - 15% off entire purchase. We will also have a Father's Day craft to make and take in the store from 10-4 and we will have an open house from 5-7 so you can come and meet the team and new owner if you haven't yet! We will have cake from Laura Hatfield with Paradise Cakes starting at 5 and we will be open for business until 7 on Wednesday!

Thursday, Friday, Saturday - We are having a huge shoe sale. Shoes will be 30/40/50/60/70 percent off! We will be open until 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and until 5 p.m. on Saturday. We are usually open on Sundays but will be closed for Father's Day this week!

Q: Are you participating in the Historic Newburgh Inc. wooden coin program this year?

A. Yes! Bring those coins in! We're so excited to participate!
