At approximately 2:27 a.m. on Feb. 25, the Warrick County Central Dispatch received a call from Warrick Hospital in reference to a male subject that had been dropped off at the Emergency Room and had a laceration to the neck. The victim, later identified as John Hamelin, 50, of Boonville was immediately transported to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville due to the severity of his injury. Deputies were able to speak with the victim at the hospital in Evansville, however the victim was not able to give deputies a complete statement due to his injuries and being intoxicated.

Deputies later learned the incident occurred at 2011 Brown Chapel Road. Deputies obtained a search warrant for the residence and detectives are currently investigating the crime scene and the incident. Two witnesses have been identified but are not fully cooperating with the investigation. A person of interest has been identified but not located at this time. At this time the victim’s injuries are not life threatening.

The investigation is considered ongoing and no further details were released as of press time.
