A Boonville woman has been charged in the death of her 2-month-old child.
Fallon Bonnell, 23, of Boonville, was arrested on Monday, Nov. 4, for neglect of a dependent resulting in death. According to a probable cause affidavit, authorities were called to investigate the death of an infant on the morning of Sept. 14.
The affidavit states that Bonnell’s 2-month-old daughter was found unresponsive on a living room couch that morning by the baby’s father. According to the affidavit, the two had been drinking together while the baby slept.
The couple told detectives that the father went to bed around 2 a.m. the night before but Bonnell stayed awake and smoked marijuana. However, the affidavit states that Bonnell had a hard time remembering what happened next.
According to the affidavit, Bonnell originally told officers that she thought she fell asleep on the couch with the baby, but the father informed officers that he had to wake Bonnell up from their bed that morning when he found the infant unresponsive on the couch.
“Fallon responded to his statement surprised and said, ‘I was in the bedroom?’ ” the affidavit states. “(The father) stated that he woke Fallon up and she appeared to be half asleep the entire time.”
According to the affidavit, detectives administered a potable breath test which showed a result of .068 blood alcohol level. The affidavit states that the amount would have been around .200 the previous night.
According to the affidavit, Bonnell also tested positive for THC. The father of the child showed negative results on both tests.
The affidavit states that first responders including EMS personnel believed that the baby had been dead for some time prior to being found.
Bonnell faced an initial hearing on Monday, Nov. 4, and will have another hearing on Friday, Nov. 15, at 9 a.m.
