A dead body was found in Newburgh on the evening of Sunday, Aug. 29. The Warrick County Sheriff’s Department has launched an ongoing investigation into the death, although no type of homicide is suspected.

The investigation was launched after the report of a possible dead body in the area. Investigators entered the home and found the body. An official coroner’s report has not been released and the investigation is ongoing, but the sheriff’s department suspects an overdose was the cause of death.

“We’re still looking into the cause of death so until the coroner’s report is out nothing is official. We suspect an overdose was the cause of death but the investigation is ongoing,” said Sheriff Michael Wilder.

The incident comes after a dead body was found earlier this year in Newburgh at Old Lock and Dam Park after washing up from the banks of the Ohio River. The proceeding investigation revealed it to be a drowning death.
