A Boonville woman charged with neglect after the death of her infant child has accepted a plea agreement for a lower charge.
Fallon Bonnell, 23, of Boonville, switched her plea to guilty after the Warrick County Prosecutor’s Office offered her a deal involving a change in the charge to reckless homicide, a Level 5 felony. Bonnell was originally charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death, a Level 1 felony.
According to a probable cause affidavit, authorities were called to investigate the death of an infant on the morning of Sept. 14.
The affidavit states that Bonnell’s two-month-old daughter was found unresponsive on a living room couch that morning by the baby’s father. According to the affidavit, the two had been drinking together while the baby slept and Bonnell later told police she had also smoked marijuana after the baby’s father went to sleep.
As a result of changing her plea, Bonnell was released until sentencing for the charges which will take place on Friday, March 17, at 1 p.m.
