The Warrick County Sheriff’s Department is accepting job applications until March 31. All applications must be returned to the department by April 1 at 4 p.m.
“The Warrick County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking candidates for the position of full time deputy sheriff. All applicants must be in good physical health condition and have a strong desire to work in a field that is both exciting and challenging,” according to the job listing on the WCSD website.
Some of the job duties of a deputy sheriff include responding to emergency calls, burglary/fire alarms, and citizen complaints, completes written reports, memos, letters, activity reports and case reports, and monitor inmates in and out of jail facility, receive/process/release inmates, oversee inmates’ activities, transport inmates and manage health and safety of inmates.
Those interested in applying must meet the following requirements as posted on the website:
• Must be a resident of the United States
• Must be 21 years of age
• Must have a high school diploma or GED
• Must not have a felony conviction
• Must be able to legally possess a firearm
• Must possess a valid driver’s licence from your state of residence
• Must not be dishonorably discharged from the military
• Must pass a mandatory pre-hire drug screening test
The application process includes a written aptitude test and a physical fitness testing.
The written aptitude test is a one and a half hour exam. The questions on the exam come from materials reviewed during the study session, which takes place before the exam. Those who did not register for the study session will not be allowed to take the exam.
The physical fitness testing consists of four parts: one and a half mile run, 300 meter run, one minute sit-ups and push ups.
According to the application, the physical fitness testing is pass/fail.
The written aptitude test takes place April 24 at 10 a.m. The physical fitness testing takes place April 24 at 8 a.m. Both tests will be held at Boonville Middle School.
