Carolyn Sue “Susie” Stephan, 74, of Boonville passed away on Oct. 15, 2020 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN. She was surrounded by family in person & through technology via Face Time.

Susie was born April 22, 1946 in Evansville, IN. She was the fourth daughter born to James & Dorothy (Tonnemacher) Moehlenkamp. Susie attended St. Anthony & St. Joe Catholic School in Evansville and graduated from Rex Mundi High School in 1964. Susie attended Butler University for 2 years before working for Alcoa, Warrick Operations. Susie married Henry “Hank” Stephan in 1969. In 1978 they built the house they called “home” for 40 plus years. Family celebrations were a love of Susie’s. There was always an open door & hugs for all the kids who passed through her home, many kids of Boonville called her “mom.” Susie graduated from University of Southern Indiana in 1989. She was employed by Red Spot Paint & Varnish for over 20 years. After “retirement” She went back to school where Susie was a substitute teacher for Warrick Co. School Corporation.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents, James & Dorothy Moehlenkamp; her husband of 14 years, Henry “Hank” Stephan; grandson, Christopher R. Woods; sisters, Julia Ann Moehlenkamp, Margaret Louise “Peggy” Beaven, Cynthia Elizabeth Moehlenkamp-Smith; In-laws, Henry & Lorraine Stephan; step-mother-in-law, Germaine Stephan & brother-in-law, Robert Beaven.

Susie is survived by her four children, Karen (Bruce) Sayre, Alexandria, IN, Keith (Rebecca) Stephan, Columbus, GA, Lori Stephan, Huntsville, AL, Amy (Sam) Woods, Norfolk, VA; her sister, Marilyn (Albert) Baehl, Boonville, IN; brother-in-law, Lee Smith, Mancos, CO; grandchildren, Mary Sayre, Kokomo, IN, Megan & Jordyn Sayre, Alexandria, IN, Catherine (Reese) Stephan, Columbus, GA, Anthony Schmitt-Woods, Jacksonville, FL, Devan Woods, El Paso, TX & seven great-grandchildren. She was “Mean Old Aunt Susie” to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces & nephews.

A PRIVATE Funeral Service was held Monday, Oct. 19, 2020 at BRADLEY’S COLONIAL CHAPEL, 1005 E. Main St, Boonville IN. Interment St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Evansville. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Clements Ladies Club, St. Mary’s Catholic School in Alexandria, IN. St. Anne-Paccelli School in Columbus, GA, John B.
