Lynnville resident Charles “Charlie” Scales passed away Dec. 22 at his home. He was 75.

Charlie was a lifelong farmer and that was his true passion. He also managed Indiana Grain Elevator in Princeton for 18 years. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s activities. He also enjoyed going to the lake and feeding his fish. He was a hard worker who always enjoyed lending a helping hand or advice when needed.

He graduated from Henderson Barber College. He was also the “family” barber for many years. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge in Lynnville, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Edith (Barr) Scales; a stepbrother, Bruce Taylor; and his stepmother, Maudie Scales.

Charlie is survived by four sons, Carl Westerman, Scott Westerman and his wife, Amy, Brian Westerman and his wife, Rachael, and Chuck Scales and his wife, Dawn; six grandchildren, Adam and Ashley Westerman, Ben Farris, Raegan Westerman and Emma and Isaac Scales; two sisters, Wanda Bogard and her husband, Richard, and Sharon Wolfram and her husband, Jim; a brother, Larry Taylor and his wife, Barbara; and cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 28 at Pemberton-Bradley Funeral Home in Lynnville. Interment followed in Lynnville Cemetery.
