Rector, John "Bob" R.

Boonville, IN. — John “Bob” R. Rector, 93, of Boonville, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021 at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana.

Bob was born in Decatur, Illinois on March 7, 1927 to the late Durwin E. and Carrie (Leingang) Rector.

Bob served in the United States Army Air Corps and was stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska. He worked for Republic Aviation working on P-38. Bob retired after 23 years of service working in the finishing department at ALCOA. He was a long-time member and deacon at the Main Street General Baptist Church in Boonville and a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. He was a co-founder of the Bass Masters Fishing Club at ALCOA and enjoyed gardening.

He is preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings.

Bob is survived by his wife of 70 years, Vertie (Smith) Rector; children, Bob Rector; LaDonna Williams (Ralph); Tim Rector (Cindy); 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Griffith; several nieces and nephews.

Services were held Jan. 30, 2021 at Main Street General Baptist Church in Boonville, Indiana with Pastor Ralph Williams and Pastor Rodney Sloan officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Boonville, Indiana.

Visitation was held on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021 at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, or Gideons International.
