Braves topple Eagles in nail biting finish

Tecumseh boys basketball took a strong win over Lanesville on Saturday.

The Braves took on the Eagles at home Saturday afternoon and came out with a tight 63-61 finish. The teams were neck and neck throughout the game, but it was Tecumseh with the win in the end.

The Braves started with a tough battle against Lanesville finishing one point behind the Eagles in the first quarter, 15-14. However, Tecumseh battled back in the second quarter and sent the Eagles into the locker room with the same deficit at 29-28.

Tecumseh came out ready to win in the third quarter and put up 20 points compared to 15 from Lanesville, leaving the teams to head into the fourth quarter with the Braves ahead, 49-43. Then, the Eagles battled back in the fourth taking 18 points.

With only 13 seconds left on the clock, the Braves and the Eagles were tied at 61. But, in the end, it was Tecumseh with the final two points before the buzzer and Tecumseh took the win, 63-61.

The Braves took on Pike Central on Tuesday after press time and will turn around to face Gibson Southern in a final home game on Friday, Feb. 14, at 7 p.m.
