Castle football is heading to semi-state after taking a regional win over Jeffersonville on Friday.

The Knights dominated the Red Devils in a regional matchup at home to take their sixth regional title. Castle took opportunities on offense while holding strong on defense to come out with the win, 49-7.

The Knights started strong making sure they were the first with points on the board after sophomore quarterback Cameron Tilly sent a soaring 25 yard pass to sophomore Weston Aigner for a touchdown. The kick was no good, but the Knights had an early lead, 6-0.

It was still the first quarter and Tilly wasn’t done setting the stage. Tilly hit Aigner for a 38 yard pass and a two-point conversion put the Knights up 14-0.

Castle went into the second quarter ready to put in more work. Senior Reece Yunker marched his way into the endzone near the top of the second quarter to stretch the lead for the Knights even further.

But it was time for the Red Devils to bite back. Jeffersonville cleared a 37 yard pass and cleared the kick for seven point up on the board, but Castle wouldn’t just let the challenge stand.

Tilly got the opportunity and found senior Cooper Guerzini for a 19 yard pass before the close of the first half sending the Knights into the locker room at half time ahead, 28-7.

The lead was enough, but Castle didn’t sit down and wait for the game to get close. Tilly and Yunker carried the ball into the endzone in the third quarter and while the defensive wall blocking any Jeffersonville attempt to advance led the team into the fourth quarter with a major lead at 42-7.

Then, in the fourth, Tilly marched into the endzone again. The Castle defense maintained their second half shutout and the Knights had the win in their hands, 49-7.

Now, the Knights will gear up for a semi-state matchup against Cathedral on Friday, Nov. 20, at 6:30 p.m. Castle will again host the matchup at home.
