The IHSAA held their annual boys and girls soccer pairing for the 2021 sectional on Sept. 27. Below is a list of how each Warrick County school drew and where they will play.
Castle: 3A games to be played at Memorial
If the Knights are wanting to make another state run, it begins in a tough sectional. The Knights, who finished last season as state runner up, is currently ranked third in the state per the latest ISCA poll. The only other team ranked in this sectional is Memorial who sits at 13th.
Castle would defeat Memorial earlier this year in overtime by the score of 2-1. They currently have a 12-1-1 record.
The Knights and Tigers would not have to play each other until the sectional finals if both were to get that far. Castle opens things up against Jasper. Should they advance they would have to play the winner of Harrison/Reitz. Castle has already defeated Reitz 4-0 and Harrison 6-1. They have not yet played Jasper.
Memorials begins sectional play against North; a team who tied Castle earlier this season. The winner of that match will meet Central who got the bye.
Boonville: 2A games to be played at Mt. Vernon
No team is ranked in this sectional so it looks to be pretty open.
While the Pioneers were one of two teams not to get the bye in this sectional, it looks to be a fairly decent draw.
The Pioneers open up against the Bosse Bulldogs. These two haven’t played each other this season but look for Boonville to advance. Should they advance, they will meet Mt. Vernon. Boonville did lose to Mt. Vernon in their head-to-head match up but the score was 2-1.
The winner of that side of the bracket will meet the winner of Heritage Hills/Mater Dei. Boonville would lose to Heritage Hills in the season opening match 5-0. They did not have a scheduled game against Mater Dei this season.
Castle: 3A games to be played at Castle
Not a good draw for Castle. Coming out of the gates, the Knights will open things up against Reitz. They are the only two teams in this sectional ranked with Castle ranked at 11th and Reitz 12th. The Knights would defeat the Panthers in their second match of the season 6-1.
The winner of this match will more than likely play North for the sectional championship. The Huskies play Central in the second round as both received the bye. Castle has yet to play Noth this season and Reitz has already defeated them 4-0.
Boonville: 2A games to be played at EVSC Field
Of the seven teams in this sectional, four are ranked in the top 20.
Boonville will play their opening round match against seventh ranked Mater Dei. Should they upset the Wildcats and advance, they would meet the 20th ranked Gibson Southern Titans in the semifinals.
The other side of the bracket has Mt. Vernon facing off against 12th ranked Heritage Hills. The winner of that match will play the winner of Bosse and third ranked Memorial.
