The 2019 version of Friday Night Light is upon us. Here are previews of each of the three Warrick County Schools first games of the season.
Castle at Bloomington South
This will be a good early season test for Castle and could be a preview of a possible sectional matchup. Both Castle and Bloomington South start the football season ranked in the Indiana Football Coaches Association Poll with Bloomington South ranked 7th and Castle 10th.
The Knights will be returning some key components from last year’s team and expectations have been higher this year as opposed to recent seasons.
Washington at Boonville
Call this week 1 of Boonville’s Big Eight Conference Farewell tour. The next time both of these schools meet it will be when they both are members of the Pocket Athletic Conference as this will be the final season of the Big 8.
The Pioneers finished last season’s regular season undefeated. Last season, Washington would only win one game which was against NE Daviess. The last time Washington defeated Boonville was during the 2010 season.
The Pioneers lost running back Luke Conner but are poised to make another run at the conference title as they return quarterback Jackson Phillips and running back Devin Mockobee.
North Daviess at Tecumseh
Tecumseh actually played North Daviess twice last season. While North Daviess got the best of Tecumseh in Week 1, Tecumseh was able to defeat North Daviess in the sectionals.
North Daviess would go 2-8 last season compared to 4-7 for Tecumseh. In head to head matchups, Tecumseh has defeated North Davies five out of the last six times.
The Braves are looking to make up ground in their running game after losing Travis Parker. Parker rushed for 1,464 yards last season and has some big shoes to fill.
