Warrick County spring sports have come to a screeching halt as the Warrick County School Corporation has cancelled all school events and activities through Friday, April 3.

In addition the IHSAA has indefinitely postponed the remainder of the boys basketball state tournament. According to a statement released on Friday, March 13, the closure of most Indiana schools resulted in the inability for the series to continue.

“Due to the number of schools closing after today for an extended period of time, it has become apparent that the IHSAA boys basketball tournament series cannot be completed as scheduled,” the statement reads.

However, coaches and administrators are encouraging students to use caution when considering whether or not to participate in other non-school related sporting activities. The IHSAA says rules regarding in-season participation in club or travel leagues will continue to be enforced when the spring season recommences.

Additionally, several other conferences and teams announced suspension of play for the spring season.

The Missouri Valley Conference announced on Friday, March 13, that all intercollegiate competitions will be cancelled through the end of the 2019-2020 academic year.

The National Junior College Athletic Association announced on Friday, March 13, that all competitions beginning Saturday, March 14, through Friday, April 3, will be cancelled.

The Mid-West Athletic Conference announced last week that all spring sports will be cancelled until Wednesday, April 1.
